ClearWave Knowledge Center
As departments have moved toward electronic information systems, there has been a great deal of focus on the breadth of data being collected. After these systems have been deployed however, users have discovered that while it is relatively straightforward to enter data into the system, it is nearly impossible to extract it in meaningful ways and in the formats that are needed. This is true regardless of the size of the organization and how many IT personnel are on staff. Query and reporting tools in the market today are designed for old paradigms, where it was sufficient for a couple of people with significant technical capability to understand the data; where having a monthly, or quarterly view of the state of the department was sufficient. This is no longer the case.
Expectations, both inside and outside the department demand real-time knowledge and response to a changing climate. Personnel once content to comb through paper files and electronic spreadsheets for information now want direct access to information and new ways to view and understand the information required to successfully perform their jobs. ClearWave Interface Hub
The need for data interfaces and integration is clear; the question is not should we bring the data needed to run our business processes together, but how should we?
Historically, as we have engaged in new sharing efforts, those efforts have had a narrow focus designed to meet very specific requirements. The evolution of sharing has left us with hard-coded interfaces and a collection of “one-off”s between departments. Absent a broader strategy, departments have had no other option than to reinvent their sharing technologies and proceed along these paths. Each of these interfaces has brought with it an associated maintenance cycle. Slowly, but surely we have become handcuffed by the very technologies we created. New solutions to yesterday’s questions are needed.
The ClearWave Interface Hub is a central communications hub designed to share and retrieve information between systems. Information exchanges between departments or organizations become a seamless part of company business. Since ClearWave’s Interface Hub captures the key events of the applications that connect through it, outside systems that have proper permissions can “listen” for the events of interest and pull the data it wants without disturbing the application. This approach allows for future interfaces, or changes to existing interfaces, to be introduced without rewriting application code.
